Hyderabad firm GMR Aero Technic shines at Wings India 2026

HYDERABAD: GMR Aero, the aviation arm of the GMR Group, won major honours at Wings India 2026, with awards for Delhi International Airport and its Hyderabad based aircraft maintenance subsidiary, GMR Aero Technic.
The awards were presented by Union civil aviation minister K Ram Mohan Naidu at the event held in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Delhi International Airport Limited was adjudged Best Airport of the Year, recognising performance across passenger experience, operational efficiency, infrastructure development and technology led innovation.
The airport was also named Sustainability Champion, citing initiatives in renewable energy adoption, carbon neutrality, waste management, water stewardship and environmentally responsible operations. The airport is among a small group globally to achieve advanced levels of Airport Carbon Accreditation.
GMR Aero Technic wins Best MRO Services award
Operated by GMR Airports Limited, Delhi Airport is India’s busiest airport and a major international aviation hub, connecting the country to key global destinations. The airport continues to receive national and international recognition for service quality, innovation and operational resilience.
Further strengthening the group’s showing, GMR Aero Technic was awarded Best MRO Services, recognising its role in building aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in India.
Based at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, GMR Aero Technic operates a narrow body MRO facility offering base maintenance, structural repairs, avionics upgrades, component repairs and aircraft painting. It also provides line maintenance services at 14 airports in India and one in Nepal.
Awards reaffirm integrated aviation strategy: GBS Raju
Commenting on the recognition, GBS Raju, business chairman GMR Aero, said: “Being recognised at Wings India is a matter of pride for the entire GMR Aero team. These awards reaffirm our integrated aviation strategy combining airport operations with critical aviation services in India.”
He added that the group remained committed to operational excellence, sustainability and building future ready aviation infrastructure aligned with India’s expanding aviation ecosystem.
Wings India is India’s flagship civil aviation event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India and FICCI. The biennial event brings together stakeholders across airports, airlines, manufacturers, MROs, policymakers and investors.
