GHMC office in Hyderabad linked to Badangpet corruption case

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) collected ₹2,501.25 crore in property tax for the 2025–26 financial year, its highest ever.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan said the corporation achieved the record as the financial year closed at 8 pm IST on March 31.

Officials collected a significant ₹548 crore between December 2025 and March 2026. They attributed the surge to the government’s One-Time Scheme (OTS), which encouraged taxpayers to clear dues.

Karnan urged property owners to use the Early Bird Scheme for the 2026–27 financial year.

Under the scheme, taxpayers who pay their full property tax in April will receive a 5% discount. The rebate applies only to the current year’s tax and does not cover arrears.

He encouraged residents to pay early and avail the benefit.
