GHMC enumerator conducting house survey in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has completed preparations to begin the first phase of the census process in the city.

Online self-registration opens from April 26 for households

Residents will be allowed to register their household details online from April 26 through a dedicated portal. This is aimed at enabling voluntary submission of basic information before field verification begins.

House listing survey across CURE limits from May 11

From May 11 to June 9, enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits across the Core Urban Region (CURE), covering areas under three municipal corporations. During this phase, officials will identify the total number of houses and collect details of property owners.

Officials estimate that around 50 lakh houses fall within the CURE limits. Each household will be assigned a unique ‘House Listing Block Number’ during the survey.

23,549 enumerators deployed for city-wide exercise

GHMC will deploy 23,549 enumerators for the census exercise. The workforce will include teachers and staff from various government departments. After selection, enumerators will undergo training before being assigned field duties.

Each enumerator will survey 200 to 300 households. After completion of the house listing phase, population enumeration is scheduled for February next year. This phase will capture detailed demographic, social, economic and caste-related data.
