Hyderabad gas users face delivery delays over e-KYC

HYDERABAD: Gas consumers in Hyderabad who have not completed Aadhaar-based electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification are facing delays in getting LPG cylinders.

Sumathi, a resident of Punjagutta, booked a gas cylinder online on the 25th of last month. Even after 15 days, the cylinder was not delivered. She later learnt that the delivery had been stopped because she had not completed e-KYC.

E-KYC linked to cylinder delivery

Sumathi immediately visited the gas agency and completed the e-KYC process. The cylinder was delivered the following day.

Several consumers in the city are reportedly facing a similar situation. Oil marketing companies have asked consumers to complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC by the 16th of the month.

Indian Oil, Bharatgas and HP Gas companies are sending SMS alerts to consumers about the requirement.

Consumers can complete e-KYC directly at their gas agency, through the companies’ mobile apps or from home using biometric authentication.

Companies warn consumers against sharing Aadhaar details

Lakhs of consumers in the city are yet to complete the process.

The companies have advised consumers to use only their official apps and websites for e-KYC. They have also warned consumers not to share their Aadhaar details or one-time passwords with anyone.
