Hyderabad excise officials arrest three in ganja case

Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise Department arrested three people during a raid for allegedly peddling ganja in the city on Wednesday, January 7. Officials seized 1.412 kg of the contraband during the operation.
Accused identified, others absconding
The arrested accused were identified as Gautham Singh, Sabitha Bai and Aarthi Bai. Three others Sarika, Avinash Singh and Kailash Singh are absconding, officials said, adding that teams have been formed to trace and apprehend them.
Sourced from multiple locations
According to officials, the accused were procuring ganja from different locations outside the city and selling it to local consumers in Hyderabad at higher prices. The racket was operating discreetly in residential areas to avoid detection, officials added.
Surveillance led to raid
Excise officials said the arrests followed specific information and surveillance. The raid was conducted after confirming the movement of the suspects and the storage of the contraband. The seized ganja has been sent for further examination.
Case registered
A case has been booked at the Dhoolpet Prohibition and Excise Station, and further investigation is under way to identify the supply network and possible links to inter-district or inter-state traffickers.
