Hyderabad police bust drugs party in Gachibowli

HYDERABAD: Acting on specific intelligence about a drugs party, the EAGLE team conducted a raid in the Gachibowli police station limits and detained seven persons who were consuming alcohol at a service apartment.
Police said the raid was carried out at a Cove Stay facility near Masjid Banda in Kondapur after inputs suggested that drugs were being consumed there. During checks, all seven were subjected to on-the-spot drug screening.
Five of them tested positive for marijuana, police said. One of those who tested positive is an assistant reserve constable posted in Hyderabad, which officials described as a serious breach of discipline.
Police said four among the detained are close friends who completed hotel management courses in 2019. Investigators found that they were first exposed to drugs while attending a friend’s wedding and later developed a habit of consuming drugs together at regular intervals.
A case has been registered and investigation is under way. Police said efforts have been intensified to trace the source of the drug supply.
