Revanth Reddy plans foreign doctors’ visits

HYDERABAD: The state government plans to facilitate visits by foreign medical experts to major government hospitals, including Osmania, Gandhi, Niloufer and MNJ.
The health department has begun preparations and is designing a dedicated website to coordinate the programme. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has already announced the initiative at several meetings.
The government intends to utilise services of Telugu doctors working abroad. Officials said they will approach such doctors when they visit Hyderabad for conferences or personal reasons and request them to offer free services in government hospitals for a few days.
Move aims to support medical tourism growth
Several doctors who earlier worked abroad are now practising in private hospitals in Hyderabad, with some setting up their own facilities. With treatment costs high overseas, many patients are looking towards Hyderabad for medical care.
Platform to connect experts with hospitals
Officials said many specialists are willing to provide free services in government hospitals or serve as guest faculty in medical colleges but lack a proper platform. To address this, the health department is developing a website.
The portal will allow experts, both from abroad and within India, to list their services. They can specify available dates, working hours and the type of medical services they are willing to offer. Based on these details, government officials will contact and coordinate with them.
