Flyovers to shut across Hyderabad on Shab-e-Meraj night; traffic advisory issued

Traffic Advisory For Jummat Ul Vida Prayers On March 28, At Mecca Masjid, Charminar

HYDERABAD: All flyovers in Hyderabad city, including Necklace Road, will be closed to traffic after 22.00 IST on the intervening night of January 16 and 17 in view of Shab-e-Meraj (Jagne Ki Raat), the city traffic police said on Friday.

The closure will not apply to Greenlands Flyover, PV Narasimha Rao Expressway and Langar House flyovers. The restrictions are being imposed to regulate traffic and ensure road safety during the religious observance, according to a traffic advisory issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police.

Need-based closures at select junctions
In addition, flyovers at Telangana Talli, Shaikpet, Manmohan Singh and Bahadurpura X Road will be closed on a need basis, depending on traffic conditions, the advisory said.

Commuters have been asked to follow real-time traffic updates on the official social media handles of Hyderabad Traffic Police and to plan alternate routes in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Helpline for emergency travel assistance
For emergency travel assistance, commuters can contact the traffic helpline at 9010203626, police said, urging the public to cooperate with traffic personnel during the restrictions.

The advisory was issued by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D Joel Davis, who requested print, electronic and FM media to give wide publicity in the interest of public safety.
