HYDERABAD: At least eight flights connected to Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport were cancelled after the United Arab Emirates shut its airspace amid escalating regional tensions.
Airport sources confirmed that departures to Doha, Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Dammam and Ras Al Khaimah were affected. An incoming service from Abu Dhabi to Hyderabad was also cancelled.
The cancelled departures include 6E 1315 (Hyderabad–Doha), 6E 1421 (Hyderabad–Sharjah), AI 2203 (Hyderabad–Dubai), 6E 1407 (Hyderabad–Abu Dhabi), 6E 1233 (Hyderabad–Kuwait), 6E 085 (Hyderabad–Dammam) and 6E 1495 (Hyderabad–Ras Al Khaimah). The return flight 6E 1449 (Abu Dhabi–Hyderabad) was also called off.
Airlines are expected to issue advisories to passengers regarding rescheduling and refunds. Airport officials advised travellers to check flight status with their respective carriers before proceeding to the airport.
