Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC finally scored the first point of Indian Super League 2024-25 season on Tuesday. The ten men of Hyderabad managed to end the match in a goalless (0-0) draw against the two-time champions Chennaiyin FC.

The football team held their nerves despite the unexpected showers that lashed GMC Balayogi Stadium during their clash against the rivals. The local team put up a remarkable show despite being reduced to 10 men and were left with just 20 minutes in hand.

The wet conditions favoured Chennaiyin FC for most of the first half. In the fifth minute, Daniel Chima Chukwu pushed a header but it was caught well by Hyderabad’s goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh.

HFC’s Abdul Rabeeh won possession of the ball and cued Cy Goddard but he couldn’t break the defence set by Chennaiyin players. Rabeeh proved to be a constant threat for most of the second half.

Chima Chukwu seized the opportunity in the 35th minute but missed the target. Four minutes later, Ramhlunchhunga latched onto Rabeeh’s pass right in front of goalkeeper Samik Mitra, however, the Chennaiyin goalkeeper saved it.

The two teams reached halftime with no goal scored either side. Chennaiyin footballers came close to making a goal in the 59th minute. An alert Arshdeep Singh denied Farukh Choudhary while Allan De Souza couldn’t do much with the ball.

HFC defender Parag Shrivas was sent to the dug out in the 71st minute after he picked up a second yellow card. Despite getting reduced to 10 men, Hyderabad continued to thwart Chennaiyin’s attempts to snatch a late winner.
