Hyderabad: Man arrested for fake number plates
HYDERABAD: A man who installed a mechanism to change car number plates at the press of a button to evade police checks was arrested by Jubilee Hills police on Thursday.
According to police, Satti Gautam Reddy of Ashok Nagar was stopped during a drunken driving check near Chiranjeevi Blood Bank on Jubilee Hills Road No. 1 on April 10. He was found driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police find different plates on same car
Police noticed different number plates on the front and rear of the car. A detailed inspection revealed a concealed device that changes the number plates at the press of a button.
Jubilee Hills traffic police filed a complaint with Jubilee Hills police station. A case was registered and investigation began under Inspector U. Srinivasulu Reddy, with Sub-Inspector Jagadeesh leading the probe.
Two aides identified, still absconding
During questioning, police found that two others assisted in installing the fake number plates. They are absconding.
The original vehicle number was DL6CM6097, while TS00FQ3999 was being displayed as a fake number, police said.
Gautam Reddy had purchased the device online and got it fitted at a car décor shop in Madhapur. He was arrested on Thursday and remanded, Inspector Srinivasulu Reddy said.
