Fake Number Plate May2

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Traffic Police, during routine checks and surveillance, identified a man using a fake vehicle number plate. Acting on the input, Saifabad police registered a case and arrested the accused.

The accused, Syed Hussain Mehdi alias Izaan, 22, a driver from Khan Bagh, Chanchalguda, was found using another vehicle’s registration number without registering his own vehicle with the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

Fake registration to avoid penalties

Police said the accused had purchased a Hero Dio two-wheeler in 2019 but did not register it with the RTO. To evade traffic challans and mislead finance agencies, he fixed a fake number plate TS11EK0593  on his vehicle.

Using this number, he violated multiple traffic rules. As a result, challans were wrongly issued against the original vehicle owner, Mohammed Ibrahim, a resident of Aman Nagar, Talab Katta.

A criminal case has been registered at Saifabad police station under FIR No. 145/2026, invoking Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 158/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Hyderabad Traffic Police and Saifabad police jointly detected the offence.
