Fake government job claim used to demand ₹1.5 crore dowry, man arrested in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly posing as a central government employee and cheating a family by demanding ₹1.5 crore as dowry for marriage.
The accused, identified as Panasa Madhu Goud, is a native of Cheruvupalli village in Madugula mandal of Nalgonda district. He had moved to Hyderabad for livelihood and was residing in the Alkapuri area.
Fake job claim used to secure marriage alliance
According to police, Madhu Goud, frustrated over repeated failures to secure employment, created a fake identity card claiming he was a Grade-3 employee with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Churlapalli.
Using this false claim, he arranged a marriage alliance with a young woman from Nalgonda district. He initially demanded ₹2 crore as dowry, which was later settled at ₹1.5 crore. The engagement was completed based on his claims.
Suspicion arises after alleged indecent behaviour
The case came to light after the accused invited the woman to his residence on the pretext of a pre-wedding shoot. Police said his behaviour during the visit raised suspicion among the woman’s family.
When questioned, the accused reportedly failed to provide credible proof of employment. Further inquiry revealed that he had no government job and had fabricated the identity card to mislead the family.
Following the revelation, the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case and took the accused into custody. Further investigation is underway.
