HYDERABAD: Revenue and industries department officials are preparing plans to set up information technology and pharmaceutical units in Tukkuguda’s Fab City in Maheshwaram.

The Centre de-notified 922 acres in the Fab City Special Economic Zone a year ago. Following this, officials from the two departments began creating infrastructure facilities.

Officials of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) estimate that industries proposed over the next two years will generate direct and indirect employment for about 15,000 people.

Industries likely to begin operations soon

Authorities plan to prioritise IT, electronics and electric equipment industries in Fab City. Industrial blocks will be demarcated to create employment opportunities for software, mechanical, electrical and electronics engineers.

Since basic infrastructure already exists, new plots will be carved out and allotted to industries as per government guidelines. TSIIC officials are working to commence operations within one or two months, including for a recently established company.

Fab City to link with Bharat Future City

Officials are considering connecting Tukkuguda’s Fab City with Bharat Future City coming up at Mirkhanpet.

The two projects are about 15 km apart. Roads and related facilities will be developed to improve connectivity. Steps are also being taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply and water for construction of IT and pharma units.

At present, the Hyderabad–Srisailam road and the Shamshabad–Gachibowli Outer Ring Road provide access to Fab City and Future City. In addition, a 330-ft road is being built from Kongara Kalan to Future City. A new road is also proposed from Tukkuguda to the Ranga Reddy collectorate at Kongara Kalan.
