Hyderabad: Pressing the government for its inaction in providing relief to employees and teachers affected by Government Order (GO) 317, the joint action committee (JAC) will hold out a ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ protest on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Earlier, the JAC had given a deadline of April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti, to the government to restore local status.

The employees and teachers have been demanding that the Revanth Reddy-led government resolve their issue. They said that as TPCC chief before the Assembly elections, Revanth Reddy had promised the employees that he would resolve their issue within 48 hours after the formation of the Congress government in the state. However, the promise remains unfulfilled so far, they said.

A three-member Cabinet sub-committee comprising Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Industries and IT minister D. Sridhar Babu submitted its report on GO 317, related to the allocation of jobs and transfers, to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on October 20, 2024. However, the government has not yet disclosed the recommendations and what the committee has suggested to it.

The contentious GO 317 was brought in by the previous BRS government on December 6, 2021. It introduced a zonal system in the allocation of jobs. The employees have been demanding the government to scrap it as officials are allegedly ignoring nativity while issuing transfer orders to them.

As per the GO, the officials addressed issues related to spouse, mutual, and medical transfers. However, JAC claimed that thousands of affected employees failed to get relief. The employees have requested the Congress government to honour its election manifesto promise and resolve the GO 317 issue.
