HYDERABAD: The Special Zonal Crime Team of the Detective Department arrested a private employee who allegedly cheated several investors through a fake stock trading scheme.

Police said N Karthik, 43, a resident of Vidya Nagar, ran an unregistered firm named Explore Technologies and promised investors 6% assured monthly returns and 10–20% profits. He allegedly told victims he worked as a Data Science Manager at Ernst and Young. A retired associate professor alone invested ₹1.3crore, officers said. Karthik later stopped payments and went on the run.

The inquiry revealed he had similarly cheated multiple people, causing a total loss of about ₹4.3 crore. A case has been booked and the investigation is under way.

Kollur Police seize 41.9 kg ganja, arrest three peddlers

In a separate case, the Kollur Police arrested three drug peddlers at Tellapur on Sunday and seized 41.9 kg of ganja.

The arrested persons are Mithun Barman, 36; Suden Roy, 25; and Rejaul Shaik, 30. They were caught while attempting to sell ganja in small quantities to labourers working in nearby camps.

Officials said the trio had been procuring the contraband from Tapan Biswas, a native of West Bengal now living in Tellapur, who is currently absconding. He is believed to be the main supplier for local labour camps.

A case has been registered, and efforts are on to trace and arrest the absconding suspect.
