Hyderabad Election officials return 6 out of 8 crores seized during elections

Officials return seized amount 6Crores

Hyderabad: District Grievance Committee(DGC) released Rs 5.93crores pertaining to 192 cases booked by the various enforcement teams during the recently held parliamentary elections in the district.With this the officials returned 6crores (approximately) to the citizens that were seized during elections.

Hyderabad district comprising two parliamentary constituencies- Secunderabad and Hyderabad and Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly bye-elections concluded peacefully recently. Enforcement teams of Static surveillance team(SST),Fixed Static Teams (FSTs), Inter-District Check Posts were deployed to curb the menace of inducements and ensure free and fair elections.

So far various enforcement teams booked 201 cases in the district and seized Rs 8.48 crores of unsubstantiated cash exceeding Rs.50,000 as per the election commission guidelines. Further the cases were referred to the District Grievance Committee, while in respect of 192 cases, Rs.5.93 crores was recommended.

Revealing the details of the same District Election Officer(DEO) and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose said, “Out of Rs.8,48,65,710 seized by various enforcement teams from 201 persons carrying cash exceeding Rs.50 thousand without proof in the district and recommended to DGC. Subsequently in 192 cases submitted proper proofs DGC released Rs.5,93,29,772”.

Further Ross added that in six cases where the seized cash exceeding 10 lakhs and the seized amount is Rs 1.88 crores has been referred to the Income Tax and Commercial Tax Departments.

Secunderabad Cantonment Bye-election assembly segment

Particularly to the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly bye election enforcement teams seized Rs 52.84 lakhs cash and other items worth Rs.52.84 lakhs and booked 11 cases and recommended them to the District Grievance Committee.

Subsequently, after 9 persons showed proper evidence to the DGC they have released cash and other items worth Rs.26,03,855. The DEO further added that Rs.26,80,160 in cash has been referred to the Income Tax Department in connection with the two cases.
