Santosh Nagar court punishes drunk driving offenders

HYDERABAD: A court has sentenced multiple offenders in 27 drunk driving cases registered over the past week under the Santosh Nagar Traffic Police Station limits.

The cases were presented before the court on Tuesday. Based on the severity of offences, the court issued varying punishments.

Jail terms and community service ordered

Four individuals were awarded jail sentences. Nine offenders were directed to perform one day of community service by displaying awareness placards at traffic junctions.

Three individuals, who were caught for a second time, were sentenced to three days in jail. One repeat offender, caught for the third time, received 10 days of rigorous imprisonment.

Police warn of stricter enforcement across city

Hyderabad Traffic Police said they are intensifying drunk driving checks during both day and night. Strict legal action will be taken against violators.

“Do not drive after consuming alcohol,” the police said, urging citizens to follow traffic rules to ensure their safety and that of others.
