Over 900 Two Wheelers Among 1,062 Drunk Driving Cases In Hyderabad; 77 Jailed

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a special “Drunk and Drive” operation from April 19 to April 25, 2025. During this period, a total of 1,062 cases were booked for drunk driving.

The majority of offenses were committed by two-wheeler riders, with 918 cases, followed by 98 cases involving four-wheelers and 45 cases involving three-wheelers. Only one case was recorded for heavy vehicles.

The report also provides a breakdown of accused by age. Of the total cases, 32 involved individuals aged 18-20 years, while the highest number of offenses occurred in the 21-30 age group, with 420 cases. There were 350 cases in the 31-40 age range, 164 cases in the 41-50 age group, and 59 cases in the 51-60 range. Individuals aged 61 and above accounted for 37 cases. Notably, no cases were recorded for individuals under the age of 18.

In terms of gender, the vast majority of offenses were committed by males, totaling 1,060 cases. Only one case was registered involving a female individual, and one case involved a person identifying as “other.”

The traffic police also provided a breakdown of the offenders’ blood alcohol content (BAC) levels. A significant portion of the offenders had BAC levels between 51-100, with 463 cases recorded in this range. Other BAC categories included 196 cases in the 30-50 range, 226 cases between 101-150, 112 cases in the 151-200 range, 41 cases between 201-250, 14 cases in the 251-300 range, and 10 cases with BAC levels above 300.
