From the pitch to streets: Hyderabad police busts club footballer’s drug operation
Banjara Hills : A cache of illicit substances- cocaine, MDMA, ecstasy, LSD, charas, and Meow Meow- this gang had it all. In one of the biggest drug busts in recent times, Hyderabad police arrested an international club footballer turned drug peddler along with two others
In a joint operation with Hyderabad narcotics enforcement wing(HNEW), Banjarahills police nabbed Ofozor Sunday Ejike alias Frank, drug peddler- Anas Khan alias Anas, from Madhya Pradesh State and Drug delivery boy Saif Khan alias Saif.
Investigation revealed Ofozor Sunday Ejike alias Frank is a native of Nigeria. In 2016 he came to India on a Sports Visa and landed at New Delhi. He represented the All Stars African Sport Club at New Delhi in Football. In the year 2018 he shifted to Bangalore and used to play football matches but he was unable to survive, meantime he met with one Nigerian who is indulged in supplying contraband and earning easy money. To survive in India he started doing drug business in Bangalore and Hyderabad. He procures drugs from the Nigerians who are residing in Bangalore at cheaper rate and supplying the same to the peddlers at high rate and also some of his direct consumers and getting easy money.
Hyderabad police seize cocktail of drugs
On credible information the HNEW team had conducted joint operation along with Banjara Hills Police and apprehended three offenders and seized multiple drugs total weighing 256 grams, a car, Net cash Rs.2260 and five mobile phones as well as packaging material from their possession. The list of drugs seized include-Thirty Six grams of Cocaine, 140 grams of MDMA, Nine Ecstasy pills, six LSD blots, 32 grams of Charas, 41 grams MEOW-MEOW.
Further probe revealed the peddler Anas Khan is native of Madhya Pradesh, after the death of his father he shifted his entire family to Bangalore and then to Hyderabad in 2022.Meanwhile he met one lady from Calcutta and married her in the year 2023. She is also a drug addict, and provided the contact number of drug supplier, Nigerian national, Ofozor Sunday Ejike alais Frank, he used to place bulk orders either by messages or voice calls to get the drugs on low price and selling the same to the needy persons with the high price and with the help of his brother Saif Khan in and around Hyderabad and earning easy money.
“The peddler Anas Khan also supplies the drug in bulk quantities to sub peddlers who are native of Hyderabad. They used to procure multiple drugs from Anas Khan at low price and are indulging in selling the drugs to the needy consumers and getting profits. Further investigation is conducted to secure more details from them,” said Hyderabad police commissioner Kothakota. Sreenivasa Reddy.
Hyderabad police advised citizens against drug abuse, “In recent times, drug abuse and consequent addiction is rising in society leading to disastrous consequences for the family as a unit and the society in general. Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) requests the public of Hyderabad to refrain from substance abuse and parents are advised to keep a watch on the activities of their children to ensure they do not fall prey to drugs.
