NCB busts illegal drug lab in Hyderabad; 69.6 kg Alprazolam seized, 3 held

HYDERABAD: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Hyderabad, has busted an illegal drug manufacturing unit at IDA, Moula Ali, and seized 69.6 kg of Alprazolam valued at ₹17.4 crore, officials said.
The agency also recovered raw materials believed to be meant for the production of Ephedrine. Three persons—a chemist, a supplier and a receiver—have been arrested in connection with the case.
The accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Probe points to inter-state drug supply plans
Preliminary investigation indicates that the network planned to distribute the drugs across Telangana. Officials said further probe is under way to identify additional links and supply routes.
The seizure is part of a broader crackdown by the NCB in the region.
NCB reports multiple seizures in 2026 so far
According to officials, the Hyderabad unit of the agency has registered nine cases so far in 2026. A total of 78 kg of Alprazolam and 1,208 kg of ganja have been seized, and 24 persons arrested.
The NCB has urged the public to report drug-related activities through the MANAS helpline (1933), assuring confidentiality.
