Gujarat ATS arrests Hyderabad man, two others over suspected terror plot

HYDERABAD: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three men, including Hyderabad-based Syed Ahmad Mohiuddin, for allegedly plotting a terror attack in the state. The operation led to the seizure of firearms and suspected toxic chemicals.
Arrest and recovery of weapons
According to the ATS, Mohiuddin, a medical graduate who studied in China, was arrested along with Mohammed Suhail and Azad Saifi from Ahmedabad. During a search of Mohiuddin’s Hyderabad residence, police recovered two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol and 30 live cartridges.
Investigators trace possible ISKP connections
Officials said Mohiuddin had been in touch with members of the Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP), a regional offshoot of ISIS. After returning to India, he allegedly collaborated with Suhail and Saifi to produce a toxic chemical resin described as hazardous on contact or inhalation.
Consignment linked to Rajasthan arms source
The ATS said the trio had received arms from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan and travelled to Gujarat to deliver them as part of a consignment. Chemicals and weapons were also recovered from Mohiuddin’s car.
Remanded till November 18
The accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody till November 18. Investigations are continuing to trace the wider network and source of weapons.
