Hyderabad Traffic Police Conducting Daytime Drunk Driving Checks At Junction

HYDERABAD: The city police have intensified daytime checks against drunk driving, with the Santoshnagar traffic police conducting surprise enforcement drives at IS Sadan and DMRL junctions.

The inspections focused on vehicles linked to public safety, including school buses, autorickshaws, ambulances and water tankers. Officials said the aim was to prevent accidents and ensure compliance during daytime hours.

Offenders produced in court, face jail terms

Police said violators were produced before court, with jail terms ranging from two to 15 days. A total of 27 offenders have already been jailed in 2026 as part of the crackdown.

Inspector Mohammad Asif said the department has adopted a strict stance. “Zero tolerance for drunk driving,” he said, adding that enforcement would continue across major junctions in the city.
