Hyderabad cyclists form giant ₹ symbol to promote fuel-free mobility

HYDERABAD: More than 250 cyclists, runners, families and children came together for the “Ride for Bharat ₹” event organised by Hyderabad Cycling Revolution (HCR) on World Bicycle Day, promoting active mobility and sustainable transportation.
The highlight of the programme was the formation of a giant human Indian Rupee (₹) symbol by participants. Organisers said the formation reflected the link between reducing fuel consumption and strengthening the Indian economy. The symbolic display aimed to highlight how fuel-free travel can help reduce fuel imports, conserve foreign exchange and support a stronger rupee.
The event began with a community cycling ride and was followed by a children’s fancy dress activity centred on themes such as fitness, patriotism, environmental responsibility and healthy living. Participants also took a pledge to adopt active mobility practices by choosing cycling, walking and public transport whenever possible.
Organisers said the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to reduce fuel imports and build a more self-reliant India. They stressed that the ₹ formation was intended not only as a visual display but also as a message encouraging behavioural change.
According to HCR, citizens can contribute to national goals through simple daily choices such as cycling short distances, walking more often and using public transport. The organisation said such practices help reduce fuel dependency, lower emissions, improve urban mobility and strengthen economic resilience.
The event drew participation from people across age groups, reflecting growing awareness of sustainable transportation and community-led action. Hyderabad Cycling Revolution reiterated its commitment to promoting cycling, road safety, fitness and active mobility.
“Every Pedal Counts. Every Fuel-Free Kilometer Strengthens Bharat,” organisers said.
Event highlights included participation by more than 250 people, a giant human ₹ formation, a community cycle ride, an active mobility pledge, a children’s awareness programme and campaigns promoting cycling, walking and public transport.
