Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City cybercrime police have arrested three individuals in connection with cases involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) reported through social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. These cases were registered following reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) portal, which focuses on crimes against children.

The investigation, based on information including IP addresses, mobile numbers, and email IDs, traced the suspects to areas under the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate’s jurisdiction. The findings, along with supporting documents, have been forwarded to the NCMEC for further legal action.

The cases involve the creation, sharing, or distribution of CSAM, and the Cyber Crime Unit is working to identify and apprehend all those involved.

Details of the Cases:

1. First Case: A 35-year-old male, a private employee from Medak, has been accused of downloading child pornography from various websites, viewing it, and sharing it with his friends on Instagram. The case has been filed under Section 67B of the IT Act. Inspector M. Seetha Ramulu is investigating.

2. Second Case: A 36-year-old welder from Hyderabad is accused of downloading and viewing child pornography, which he then shared with friends on Snapchat. This case is also filed under Section 67B of the IT Act. The investigation is led by Inspector S. Mattam Raju.

3. Third Case: A 22-year-old student from Hyderabad is accused of downloading child pornography, viewing it, and sharing it on Instagram. Like the others, the case falls under Section 67B of the IT Act. Inspector K. Prasad Rao is handling the investigation.

Public Advisory:

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad City, has issued an advisory urging the public to remain vigilant against online abuse and CSAM.

The Cyber Crime Unit advises the following:

• Report Suspicious Activity: Any content or accounts promoting child exploitation should be reported immediately to law enforcement or the platform hosting it.

• Avoid Sharing Sensitive Content: Do not share inappropriate material, as even unintentional distribution can have serious legal consequences.

• Parental Guidance: Parents should monitor their children’s online activities, use privacy settings, and implement parental controls where necessary.

• Use Reporting Tools: Platforms like NCMEC are available for reporting cases of online child exploitation.

These measures are crucial to ensuring a safer online environment for children.
