HYDERABAD: V.C. Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, conducted a surprise inspection of the police outpost at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, on Friday.

During the visit, he examined the General Diary, reception registers, pending petitions and enquiry records to review the functioning of the outpost.

Focus on grievance redressal and coordination

The Commissioner directed enquiry officers to prepare detailed reports on every petition and ensure timely disposal of grievances.

He instructed staff to maintain and display updated contact details of airport station house officers (SHOs) across India to improve coordination in inter-state cases.

Strict action against unruly passengers

To curb drug trafficking and related offences, the team was asked to strengthen intelligence collection and monitoring mechanisms.

The Commissioner ordered strict action against unruly passengers, particularly in cases involving alcohol-related misconduct or harassment of women. He directed coordination with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security for blacklisting offenders.

He also suggested setting up a dedicated police help desk in the arrivals area to assist passengers and called for maintaining an updated database of habitual offenders and inter-state thieves to prevent airport-related crimes.

DCP Shamshabad P. Rajesh, ACP Srikanth Goud and Inspector Kanakaiah Sampathi were present during the inspection.
