Hyderabad Lakes to Get CSR Boost as Government Seeks Corporate Support
HYDERABAD: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department has urged corporates to support the development and rejuvenation of Hyderabad’s lakes through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
The appeal was made at CSR Round Table 2.0, organised by the MA&UD and Sports departments to boost corporate participation in developing and restoring the city’s water bodies.
Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD, Jayesh Ranjan, and HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath urged corporates to focus their CSR initiatives on smaller lakes across Hyderabad.
Officials stress importance of lakes
Officials highlighted the role of lakes in maintaining Hyderabad’s ecological balance. They also stressed their importance in meeting future water needs and reducing urban flooding.
They said protecting and restoring water bodies is vital to building a sustainable and resilient Hyderabad.
Ranganath presented details of lake development works carried out by HYDRAA during its first and second phases. He also said the government has approved the third phase of lake development works.
Third phase to expand lake restoration
The third phase is expected to expand the rejuvenation of water bodies across Hyderabad.
Ranganath urged corporates and citizens to join hands with government agencies to protect and develop the city’s lakes.
He said stronger corporate participation through CSR, especially in smaller lakes, can support environmental conservation. It can also improve Hyderabad’s water security and resilience.
The CSR initiative aims to bring the government, corporate sector and citizens together to protect Hyderabad’s lakes and strengthen the city’s environmental and water security.
