Lack of contact information on official Hyderabad website leaves citizens in limbo

Hyderabad contact information missing

Hyderabad: Hyderabad residents face a daunting challenge as the official website fails to provide contact numbers for local range officials. The absence of essential contact details has perplexed citizens, raising concerns about accessibility to crucial services and emergency assistance. The community is now grappling with the pressing question of how to reach out to authorities for urgent matters amidst this information blackout.

While speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Umesh Kumar Srikhande, an RTI activist and the founder of the Know Your Rights NGO, said, “Many parents seek my assistance regarding schools not following the directives issued by the District Education Officer (DEO). I planned to file a formal complaint with the District Educational Officer in Hyderabad about schools selling books and uniforms. To do this, I referred to the official directory link, which is a comprehensive resource containing contact information for various authorities in departments such as education, tourism, and health. Specifically, I was looking for the contact details of the District Education Officer (DEO) within this directory.”

Umesh Kumar said, “Upon checking, I couldn’t find the contact number for the District Education Officer, nor could I find the number for any authorities or any information.”

Umesh Kumar said, “I was confused because there was no single contact number. I thought it might be a technical glitch. But I also doubted that the authorities themselves made sure to remove the data, as every citizen had access to their numbers, and they kept receiving calls on those numbers.”

In today’s social media era, people often don’t have the time to visit the office to file complaints. Instead, they prefer to make direct contact through phone numbers, said the RTI Activist.

Umesh Kumar has requested that the authorities verify the website, as there might be a technical glitch. If it is not a technical glitch, please provide all the contact details or an email ID so that people can email their grievances or complaints.

Umesh Kumar posted on ‘X’ saying, “@Collector_HYD Sir, there are no contact numbers for Hyderabad range officials on the official website. How can citizens contact officials if contact numbers and email addresses are not available? Kindly look into this. The website is hyderabad.telangana.gov.in/directory/ @TelanganaCMO.”
