Hyderabad cold wave as temperatures fall and Met office predicts light rain

HYDERABAD: Temperatures continue to drop across Telangana, intensifying the cold spell triggered by the impact of Cyclone Ditva, according to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.

Officials said the chill is expected to increase over the next four days. With the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal weakening, light rain is likely in isolated places on Friday and Saturday. Another spell of rain is possible on December 9, the Met office added.

Daytime skies are turning partly cloudy, while night temperatures are falling below 18°C in several areas. Heavy morning fog is being reported. Northeasterly winds are blowing strongly across the state, pushing temperatures to lower levels and increasing cold intensity. From Friday, a dip in humidity is expected to make the cold winds even harsher.

Met officials forecast similar conditions for four days, indicating that residents may experience severe discomfort. Travellers have been advised to take precautions and avoid exposure to the cold for long durations. Farmers have been urged to plan their field work accordingly and return home early to avoid health risks, the officials said.
