Hyderabad Citizens Request Pedestrian Crossings at Nallagandla Junction

Hyderabad: As part of National Road Safety Month 2025, residents of Hyderabad have raised concerns about road safety at the newly opened traffic signals at Ratnadeep Supermarket Junction on Nallagandla Road. One key request made to the Cyberabad Traffic Police is the installation of stop lines and pedestrian crossings at the junction to address the rising issue of wrong-side driving.

Sai Koushik, a local software engineer, shared the request on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). In his post, he urged the traffic police to take action: “@AE_Serilingmply sir, please provide stop lines and pedestrian crossings at Ratnadeep Supermarket Junction—Nallagandla Road. Newly opened Signals.”

Speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Koushik explained the reason for his request, “During recent interactions with officers and local residents, it was noted that there has been a significant increase in wrong-side driving due to the closure of the central median gap at the Nallagandla area, near Ratnadeep Supermarket and D Mart. This gap was previously open when the signals were not operational.”

Koushik added that the traffic police had recently reactivated the signals at these locations and that he was grateful for their prompt response. “I thank the Cyberabad Traffic Police and Ramachandrapuram Traffic Police wing for their efforts,” he said.

This issue is part of a broader effort by the Cyberabad Traffic Police to tackle dangerous driving practices. As part of this initiative, on June 25, the police registered 10 FIRs and stopped 76 vehicles for wrong-side driving across various locations in Cyberabad. This action followed a similar crackdown on June 22, when the police apprehended 385 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol and registered 22 FIRs for wrong-side driving offenses.

Earlier, Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police Traffic, D. Joel Davis, highlighted the severity of the issue, saying, “Drunk driving and wrong-side driving have been major contributors to road accidents and fatalities in Cyberabad. We are taking strict legal action against violators to ensure public safety.”
