Daily commute turns risky on Butterfly Circle–Nala Bridge road in Manikonda

HYDERABAD: From Vijeta Supermarket to Anand Homes in Manikonda area, residents face daily struggles as the road crumbles beneath them. The route from Butterfly Circle to the Nala Bridge is filled with gaping potholes and jagged surfaces, forcing vehicles to crawl and prompting desperate pleas for GHMC action.
The issue was highlighted by A. Suryanarayana Rao, son of the late A. Sreeramulu (former MLA, MLC, and national trade union leader). Rao emphasized the need for a physical inspection to understand the severity of the situation.
Narrating the situation of despair, Rao told HyderabadMail, “The road is in a pathetic condition, causing a lot of hardship to vehicle users. We have been trying for the last six months. We informed all the authorities, and they promised to take action, but nothing has happened so far.”
According to residents, Butterfly Circle to Nala Bridge road’s condition deteriorated rapidly during the recent rainy season, exacerbated by heavy vehicle movement. When asked about the last time the road was properly laid or repaired, residents recalled only temporary patchwork done some time ago, which they found unsatisfactory. “It’s been a long time since any proper repair was done. The patchwork didn’t last, and now it’s worse than ever,” Rao added.
This battered road is the lifeline for several nearby residential colonies. As traffic increases and maintenance is neglected, each commute tests patience and luck, with vehicles at risk and accidents possible. Despite repeated petitions to municipal officials and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), residents are still waiting for real change.
Rao and other locals have urged the district administration and GHMC to conduct an immediate inspection and prioritize the reconstruction of the road.
