HYDERABAD: A five-year-old boy died after getting trapped in a lift at Yellareddyguda on Wednesday evening, triggering shock in the locality.

Child trapped between floors, rescued unconscious

Police said Harshavardhan, 5, lived with his family on the fifth floor of Keerthi Apartments. He studied in LKG at Srinidhi School in Madhuranagar.

He returned home from school with his mother and sibling around evening. The child went up to the fifth floor in the lift and later attempted to descend alone. The lift reportedly got stuck between the fourth and fifth floors.

Taken to hospital but declared dead

Residents pulled the boy out, but he was already unconscious. He was shifted to a hospital in Banjara Hills, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Gloom in apartment complex

The incident left residents of the apartment complex in deep grief.
