Hyderabad Liquor Shops to Shut During Bonalu Festival; Check Closure Dates
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has ordered the closure of liquor outlets in parts of the city during the Mahankali Bonalu festival.
The order, issued under Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1974, covers toddy shops, wine shops, and bars attached to restaurants. However, bars in star hotels and registered clubs are exempt from the restrictions.
In the Rajendranagar and Golconda Zones, the outlets will remain closed from 10:00 IST on August 9, 2026, to 10:00 IST on August 10, 2026.
In the Charminar Zone, the closure will continue for two days, from 10:00 IST on August 9, 2026, to 10:00 IST on August 11, 2026.
