Hyderabad: Bolla brothers run organised ganja racket

Seized ganja packets and synthetic drugs displayed by Telangana EAGLE officials in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Bolla brothers allegedly used rented vehicles without number plates to transport ganja, changed vehicles after each consignment and kept trained dogs and an air gun to deter police, according to the remand report prepared by the EAGLE Force.

The report comes days after the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) arrested the accused in Balanagar on August 13. Five people have been named as accused in the case.

Accused used unregistered vehicles and trained dogs

Bolla Durgaprasad, 30, Kiran, 26, and Kamalakar, 25, are brothers. They lived in Vinayak Nagar in Balanagar and allegedly used seven bikes and a car to transport ganja.

They also rented cars from financiers and removed the number plates to avoid detection by traffic police. After using a vehicle once, they would reportedly leave it unused for several days before using it again.

The accused allegedly trained and kept German-breed dogs to attack people who entered the house. They also kept an air gun ready to fire at anyone who managed to get past the dogs.

The brothers allegedly avoided direct contact with customers. They took orders through WhatsApp and supplied ganja through the “dead drop” method, in which packets were left at designated locations.

Payments were made through PhonePe and Google Pay. According to the remand report, the accused bought ganja from 29 people in Odisha, brought it to Hyderabad and sold it in the city. The price figure in the supplied copy is unclear and has not been reconstructed.

Key associate was accused in Qnet case

Sri Perambuduru Rajkumar, 30, from Korutla town in Jagtial district, allegedly worked as a key associate of the Bolla brothers. He is also an accused in a Qnet case.

Rajkumar worked for Qnet in 2019. After fraud allegations against the company surfaced, Madhapur police arrested him that year.

After he was released, Rajkumar tried to secure a government job but could not do so because of his criminal record. He later became addicted to ganja and began buying it through his friend Nikesh.

Nikesh used to buy ganja from Bolla Durgaprasad. After Nikesh died in a road accident in 2022, Rajkumar began buying ganja directly from Durgaprasad. The two subsequently became friends.

Facing financial difficulties without a job, Rajkumar later began delivering ganja to locations specified by Durgaprasad. He allegedly received a commission of ₹50 per packet.

In July this year, Rajkumar joined a private hospital in Narayanpet district headquarters as an administrator.

On August 12, Rajkumar went to the Old Airport Road area in Begumpet to buy ganja, where EAGLE police arrested him. During questioning, investigators reportedly uncovered details of the Bolla brothers’ alleged ganja operation.
