Chain snatcher caught, thrashed by locals in Uppal

HYDERABAD: A man who snatched a gold chain from a woman in Boduppal was caught and beaten by locals before being handed over to the police on Friday.

Elderly woman attacked during morning walk

The incident occurred under Medipally police station limits. According to police, Janaki, 65, a resident of Boduppal, was walking in the Seven Hills Colony when the accused approached her.

Locals chase and nab thief

The accused, identified as Rapolu Mahesh of Dasireddigudem village in Valigonda mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, allegedly snatched a four-tola gold chain from her neck and tried to flee.

As the woman raised an alarm, nearby residents chased and caught him. They thrashed him before alerting the police.

Police register case

Medipally police took Mahesh into custody and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
