Hyderabad: Hyderabad has risen to third place in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, with 104 billionaires, surpassing Bengaluru for the first time. The city is now ranked just behind Mumbai, which leads with 386 billionaires, and New Delhi, which holds the second position with 217 billionaires. Hyderabad has seen a significant increase, with 17 new billionaires joining this year.
Telangana, the state with Hyderabad as its capital, has made significant economic progress and now ranks fifth among Indian states in terms of the number of billionaires. The 2024 Hurun India Rich List now features over 1,500 entrants, indicating a 150% increase over the past seven years. The number of billionaires in India has surpassed 300, with 334 USD billionaires, marking a six-fold increase since the list was first published 13 years ago.
Hyderabad’s rise above Bengaluru highlights the city’s increasing importance as a center for wealth generation.

Murali Divi and Family: The founder of Divi’s Laboratories, Murali Divi, is the wealthiest in Hyderabad with a net worth of Rs. 76,100 crores. He ranks 26th nationally.
C. Venkateswar Reddy: Associated with Aparna Constructions, Reddy is among the top ten biggest gainers in terms of wealth growth percentage in 2024.
S. Subramanian Reddy: Also of Aparna Constructions, Reddy is recognized among India’s top ten biggest wealth gainers over the past five years.
Ponguleti Harsha Reddy: At just 30, Reddy, son of Congress Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has accumulated a wealth of Rs. 1,300 crores.
P. Pichi Reddy: Chairman of Megha Engineering (MEIL), Reddy is the richest individual in the construction and engineering sector with a wealth of Rs. 54,800 crore.

Notable new entrants to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List include Shah Rukh Khan, who debuted with a wealth of ₹7,300 crore, driven by his stakes in Kolkata Knight Riders and Red Chillies Entertainment. Other prominent figures from the entertainment industry include Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, and Amitabh Bachchan.
Among women, Radha Vembu (51) of Zoho remains the wealthiest self-made Indian woman, while Neha Bansal, co-founder of Lenskart, is the youngest self-made woman entrepreneur on the list at 42.
In astrology, Cancer sign leads in the wealth growth, followed by Gemini and Leo. Overall, Gemini and Scorpio are the most successful entrepreneurial signs in India, with 9.9% and 9% representation, respectively, followed by Pisces and Aries.
