HYDERABAD:  Police in Bhavani Nagar arrested a 19-year-old youth in connection with a murder case following a quarrel near a pan shop in Talabkatta.

The accused, Mohd Mudassir, a resident of Nasheman Nagar, was apprehended on April 16, 2026, in Crime No. 65/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The deceased was identified as Syed Abdul Khadir Ali, 21, a fast food centre worker and auto driver from Shaheen Nagar in Balapur, Ranga Reddy district.

Victim went missing before being found injured

According to the complaint filed by Syed Sajid Ali, the victim’s father, the incident occurred on April 13, 2026. The family had gathered in Bhavani Nagar following the death of a relative.

At around 16.30 IST, the victim left home to bring an auto-rickshaw to travel to a cemetery in Moghalpura. When he did not return or answer calls, family members proceeded separately.

Later, at around 17.40 IST, a relative informed the complainant that the victim was lying injured near Thala Masjid in Talabkatta. He was taken to Urooj Hospital, where doctors said he had sustained internal injuries. He later died during treatment.

Quarrel escalated into assault, say police

Police said the incident stemmed from a confrontation at a nearby pan shop. The accused allegedly picked up a quarrel after an exchange of looks and used abusive language.

Despite intervention by the shop owner, the argument continued outside. The accused allegedly assaulted the victim with fist blows to the chest, neck and head, and pushed him to the ground.

The victim sustained severe internal injuries and collapsed. He was shifted to hospital but succumbed while undergoing treatment.

Accused produced before court

Police said the accused was traced and apprehended based on credible information. He has been produced before a court.

The arrest was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charminar Zone, and other officials of Bhavani Nagar police station.
