Three killed in Bachupally SUV accident near Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Three people, including a couple, were killed in a road accident near Bachupally on the outskirts of Hyderabad after a Scorpio SUV overturned while its driver was trying to avoid a motorcycle.

According to the police, the accident occurred when the SUV driver attempted to swerve away from a two-wheeler that came in front of the vehicle. The driver reportedly lost control, causing the Scorpio to overturn. The impact of the crash left three occupants with fatal injuries.

Couple among the deceased

Police said a couple were among those killed in the accident. The victims have been identified as residents of Nanded in neighbouring Maharashtra. Their identities are being verified before their families are formally informed.

Local residents alerted the police and emergency services immediately after the accident. Police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Investigation underway

The damaged vehicle was removed from the road to restore traffic movement. Police registered a case and launched an inquiry to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the accident. Investigators are examining whether overspeeding, road conditions or any other factors contributed to the crash.

Road accidents continue to claim lives on highways and arterial roads around Hyderabad, with police repeatedly urging motorists to maintain safe speeds, avoid risky manoeuvres and follow traffic rules to prevent such incidents.
