HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Charminar zone) and Amberpet police arrested three men allegedly plotting a murder and seized a country-made pistol, six live rounds and a magazine.

Acting on credible information on March 9, 2026, the joint team detained the suspects near Ali Cafe crossroads in the Amberpet police station limits. Police also seized an electric scooter and three mobile phones from them.

The arrested accused are Damara Arun Kumar, 48, a real estate trader from Maruthi Nagar near Darga in Malkajgiri; Mohammed Abbu, 26, who runs a pan shop at Chennapuram crossroads in Jawahar Nagar, Yapral, Malkajgiri; and Mir Mujammil Ali Khan, 23, a student from Darab Jung Lane in Yakutpura.

Plot linked to suspicion over second wife

During questioning, police said Arun Kumar suspected his second wife and allegedly planned to kill her.

In November 2025, he contacted Mohammed Abbu in Malkajgiri seeking a firearm. Abbu introduced him to Mir Mujammil Ali Khan, who agreed to arrange a gun and took an advance of ₹20,000.

In the first week of January, Mujammil and his relative Salamat alias Salman travelled to Munger in Bihar. Police said they purchased a pistol, 10 bullets and two magazines from a man identified as Tabish for ₹35,000.

After returning to Hyderabad, Mujammil allegedly handed over the weapon to Arun Kumar and collected ₹1,10,000.

Police said Arun Kumar tested the pistol in his agricultural field. On March 9, the three suspects met near Ali Cafe as part of the plan to kill his wife, when the task force team detained them.

Two suspects from Bihar on the run

Police said Tabish and Salamat, both from Bihar, are absconding and efforts are on to trace them.

The arrests were made under the supervision of Task Force Inspector S. Saidababu, sub-inspectors M. Mahesh, K. Rama Rao and K. Swami, along with Amberpet police staff.
