₹18 crore Rolex watches trigger security check at Hyderabad airport; Passengers cleared after probe
HYDERABAD: Two passengers carrying around 30 luxury Rolex watches worth approximately ₹18 crore were detained at Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport for questioning by authorities.
Officials stopped the passengers and examined documents related to the high-value consignment. They also questioned the individuals about the source and purpose of carrying the luxury watches.
Authorities, along with the passengers, later clarified that the transaction was lawful and complied with all applicable regulations. After a detailed verification process, officials found the documentation to be in order.
Following the checks, airport authorities allowed the passengers to proceed.
Sources indicated that the individuals are associated with a watch store operating out of a hotel at Park Hyatt.
