Hyderabad Man Arrested Over AI-Generated Defamatory Video Targeting Anasuya Bharadwaj

HYDERABAD: Police arrested a 29-year-old man in Hyderabad for posting defamatory and abusive content, including an AI-generated video targeting Telugu film actress Anasuya Bharadwaj on social media.
The Cyberabad cyber-crime police took Janardhan, a native of Andhra Pradesh, into custody after the actress filed a complaint. She claimed that since December 23, several individuals and social media pages had circulated abusive, obscene, and defamatory content that harmed her reputation and dignity.
Police investigation revealed that Janardhan operated the Instagram account mmtt_official. The account allegedly shared electronic content targeting the actress, including an AI-generated video.
Authorities registered a case under Sections 75, 79, 336(4), 351, and 356 of the Bombay Police Act, and Sections 66E and 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000-2008.
In a separate incident, police arrested Kondapuram Arun Kumar, an auto driver from West Marredpally, Secunderabad, for posting an abusive comment on a YouTube reel featuring an unidentified actress. They apprehended Arun Kumar from his residence on March 12. Verification confirmed the comment originated from his mobile device.
