Hyderabad police arrest man for adulterated ginger garlic paste

HYDERABAD: Police arrested a man for manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger garlic paste in the industrial area of Kattedan under Mylardevpally police station limits.
Acting on credible information, the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Khairatabad zone) and H-FAST team conducted a raid at SKR Food Products, located at Plot No. 25, SEIE, IDA Kattedan. The accused, Hasan Ali Rupani, 55, a resident of Abids, was taken into custody.
Poor hygiene, chemicals used in preparation
Police found the paste was being prepared in plastic containers under unhygienic conditions. Low-quality ginger, garlic and garlic peels were used.
Officials said acetic acid and xanthan gum powder were added during preparation. The paste was left in open spaces, exposing it to dust and flies.
The accused supplied the product to wholesale grocery shops and catering services, posing a risk to public health. Police said the unit operated without food safety certification and was run purely for profit.
Large quantities seized during raid
Police seized materials worth about ₹22,00,000.
The seizure included about 4,032 kg of ginger garlic paste in various packets. Raw materials included 6,000 kg of low-quality garlic, 210 kg of ginger and garlic peels. Other items seized were 250 kg of salt, acetic acid, xanthan gum powder and five grinding machines.
Accused handed over for further action
The accused and seized materials were handed over to the station house officer of Mylardevpally police station for further action.
Inspector P. Raghavender, sub-inspector Srikanth, sub-inspector Vishwanath Reddy and staff participated in the operation.
