Hyderabad police seize 750g mephedrone worth ₹50 lakh, arrest two in Abdullapurmet
HYDERABAD: The EAGLE Force Task Group, along with Abdullapurmet police station personnel and the Clues Team of LB Nagar, arrested two persons and seized 750 grams of mephedrone, a synthetic narcotic drug, valued at approximately ₹50 lakh during a raid in Abdullapurmet.
The accused were identified as K Matsyagiri and N Naresh. Police apprehended them at the office of Sri Sai HMDA Weigh Bridge in Abdullapurmet while they were allegedly in possession of the contraband.
According to police, the seizure was made as part of an operation targeting the illegal drug trade. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly connected to an interstate illicit drug manufacturing and distribution network.
Police said one of the accused had reportedly transitioned from working as a chemist to becoming a member of an international drug manufacturing syndicate operating across several parts of India.
Officials seized the mephedrone and took the accused into custody. Further investigation is under way to identify other members of the network, trace the source of the drug and establish the extent of its distribution across states.
Police are also examining financial transactions and communication records linked to the accused as part of the probe. More arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
