HYDERABAD: Thirty-two pubs in Hyderabad are operating without valid fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs), according to inspections conducted by fire safety officials.

Director General, Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defense, Vikram Singh Maan said the pub owners had been asked to rectify the violations immediately.

A fire safety awareness programme for pub owners and representatives was held at the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) in Gachibowli on Wednesday. The programme was organised by the Telangana Fire Services, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defense department.

Maan said officials had identified 77 pubs in the city, of which 45 had valid fire NOCs. Notices were issued to the remaining 32 pubs for failing to comply with fire safety norms.

The officials warned that legal action would be taken as per the rules if the deficiencies were not rectified within the stipulated period.

Maan said fire safety was a collective responsibility and there could be no compromise on safety at entertainment venues that attract large numbers of people.
