Telangana officials struggle to clear 22A land data

HYDERABAD: Large numbers of properties listed under the 22A prohibited list have come to light in Hyderabad district, leaving revenue officials struggling to reconcile the records.
With the Telangana Assembly’s monsoon session under way, officials have been asked to compile details of properties included in the district’s 22A prohibited list. They are also working to prepare a comprehensive report amid information that the issue is likely to come up for discussion in the Assembly on Thursday.
A special meeting was held at the collectorate on Tuesday under the supervision of the district revenue officer, sources said. Hyderabad and Secunderabad revenue divisional officers, tahsildars from 16 mandals and officials from the land and records department attended the meeting.
Officials are examining the land records mandal-wise to determine how much government land falls under categories 22A(B), 22A(C), 22A(D) and 22A(E). They are also collecting details of private patta lands and identifying properties that figure in the prohibited list.
Unclear NOCs leave property owners in limbo
Several people have complained that sub-registrars are refusing to register properties removed from the prohibited list based on NOCs issued by collectors, citing a lack of clarity in the documents.
According to them, properties included in the prohibited list can be registered only after the concerned properties are removed from the list maintained by the revenue department. However, they said registrations were not taking place in some cases despite collectors issuing NOCs.
In one such instance, a woman from Chengicherla in Medchal district submitted an NOC issued by the collector to the local sub-registrar four days ago. The sub-registrar stopped the registration, saying the document was not in the required form, leaving the woman disappointed.
She returned home but has been making rounds of the collectorate since the following day, seeking clarity on the issue.
