HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Friday said the state government has allocated ₹20,000 crore for Hyderabad’s development over the last two years, calling it the largest ever such investment in the city’s history.

Speaking as chief guest at the CREDAI Property Exhibition Show at HITEX, Bhatti Vikramarka said several projects funded under the allocation have been completed, while many are at various stages of execution.

He said ₹1,950.52 crore was allotted within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, ₹12,500 crore to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and ₹4,365 crore to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.

Hyderabad, he said, is now competing not only with Indian cities but also with leading global cities for investments, talent and quality of life.

Municipal merger enables integrated planning

The Deputy Chief Minister described the merger of 27 surrounding urban local bodies into the GHMC as a historic decision that enabled uniform civic services, integrated planning and a unified development vision across the Outer Ring Road region.

Hyderabad’s growth, he said, was the result of decades of institution-building and democratic governance, now being strengthened through transparency, accountability and people-centric administration.

Urban development, he added, was no longer being shaped around isolated affluent pockets but as a single, integrated metropolitan city focused on balanced growth.

₹7,032 crore under H-CITI programme

Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme (H-CITI), works worth over ₹7,032 crore are under way, including 45 major flyovers and underpasses and 10 road-widening projects.

Around KBR Park, projects worth ₹1,090 crore are being executed to ease traffic congestion. In the western corridor, multi-level flyovers at IIIT and Khajaguda, built at a cost of ₹837 crore, are supporting the knowledge economy, while road-widening works worth ₹70 crore are in progress.

In northern Hyderabad, alternative road networks near the Army Ordnance Centre are being developed at a cost of ₹960 crore. In the east, flyovers at TKR College, Gayatri Nagar and Mandamallamma Junction, costing ₹416 crore, aim to improve connectivity. Road-widening projects worth ₹863 crore are under way in the southern part of the city.

“No area is being neglected. No community is being forgotten,” he said.

Vision 2047 and climate resilience

Referring to the Telangana Rising Vision 2047, Bhatti Vikramarka said the CURE–PURE–RARE strategy places the Core Urban Region Economy at the centre of the state’s development, aligning economic growth with social justice.

He said a comprehensive Storm Water Master Plan was being prepared to protect low-lying areas from flooding, alongside integrated spatial master plans, blue-green master plans and comprehensive mobility plans to ensure sustainable urban growth.

The government, he said, was promoting green buildings and responsible urban design, stressing that infrastructure alone does not define a great city.

Hyderabad would continue to be Telangana’s primary engine for jobs, innovation and global investment, he said, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

“We are not just building roads and flyovers. We are rebuilding trust in governance and public institutions,” Bhatti Vikramarka said, calling for cooperation between the government, industry and citizens to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city.
