Heavy rainfall leaves Hussain Sagar Lake cross FTL
HYDERABAD: The recent heavy rainfall that occurred in the last 24 hours has left Hyderabad’s Hussain Sagar crossing the Full Tank Level (FTL) on Sunday morning. According to the official figures, while the FTL is 513.41m, the water level by 8AM on September 1, has reached to 513.60 meters, slightly above FTL but well below Maximum water Level(MWL). Meanwhile, the MWL is 514.75m.
As per the details revealed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), as of now, while the inflow of water into the Hussain Sagar lake is 10270 cusecs, the outflow is at 9622 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the GHMC officials are also inspecting the control rooms and the flood affected areas to ensure smooth functioning. Hyderabad had received moderate rain ranging from 15.60 mm to 64.40 mm in different areas.
Further GHMC in an update said they have identified 141 Static water logging points, cleared Stagnation certain places. Further, the GHMC officials have also warned people residing in the low-lying areas to be careful, as there are chances of inundation and flood like situation in the certain areas of the city. The rains have also left several roads under bridges in the city to inundate.
Moosarambagh Bridge Upstream / Downstream flow is below the bottom deck informed GHMC. “Regular monitoring being done. To address the Heavy water logging issues GHMC has taken up 9 Water Holding Structures with 10 Lakh liters Capacity and works are in progress. Utmost care is being taken at the construction site to avoid any untoward incidents. No significant incident in GHMC area due to moderate rains since 31 August till 1 September, 08-00am. All water logging issues and tree fall complaints have been resolved”, said GHMC in an official statment.
