Wardhannapet mortuary rat bite incident mortuary

HUSNABAD: An assistant commercial tax officer (ACTO) died after his wife allegedly hit him on the head with a wooden pestle during a dispute over retirement benefits and property distribution in Husnabad of Siddipet district on Sunday night.

Koti Venkateshwarlu, 60, a resident of Hanuman Nagar in Husnabad, was working as an ACTO in Asifabad district. He was due to retire on August 31.

Dispute over retirement benefits leads to assault

Venkateshwarlu had married Rajamani 35 years ago and they have two children, including a son. Rajamani works as an auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) in Mirjapur.

About 20 years ago, Venkateshwarlu married another woman, Bhoomika, and was living in Mancherial. She also has two children, including a son. Venkateshwarlu would occasionally visit Rajamani in Husnabad.

As his retirement approached, disputes reportedly broke out between Venkateshwarlu and Rajamani over his retirement benefits and division of property. A panchayat was held in Husnabad in the presence of elders to resolve the issue.

After they returned home, the quarrel escalated, and Rajamani allegedly hit Venkateshwarlu on the head with a wooden pestle.

He was taken to a hospital in Husnabad and later shifted to a private hospital in Karimnagar. Doctors examined him and declared him dead.

Police register case after brother’s complaint

Husnabad sub-inspector Lakshma Reddy said police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s younger brother, Koti Devayya.

Meanwhile, some people suspect that Rajamani’s son, who works as a doctor at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, may have attacked Venkateshwarlu. They suspect Rajamani took the blame fearing that her son could lose his job if a case was registered against him.

The allegation about the son’s involvement is based on suspicion by some people and was not established in the supplied copy.
