MDMA Drug Bust: Sudanese National arrested in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a drug bust, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Humayun Nagar Police arrested a Sudanese national and seized 50 grams of MDMA worth Rs 7.75 lakhs on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed AbdulRhman Osman alias Mohammed alias Osman alias Hanin was born and brought up in South Darfur, Sudan. Based on credible information, the HNEW team and Humayun Nagar Police conducted a joint operation and seized 50 grams of MDMA from him. Police also seized his passport and an Apple iPhone 13.
Investigation revealed Osman finished school at Al Furqan Secondary High School in South Darfur. In 2016, he got a one-year Student Visa, arrived at RGI Shamshabad, and stayed in Tolichowki, Hyderabad. He joined Aptic Institute, Mehdipatnam, for a Spoken English course. In 2017, after completing the course, he returned home. In 2018, he got a four-year Student Visa valid until 2025,returned to RGI Shamshabad, and moved to Tolichowki. He enrolled in Glocal University, Sahranpur, Uttar Pradesh, for a BCA course. In 2020, he finished his first year but went back home due to COVID. After two years, he returned to India, landed in Mumbai, went to Sahranpur, and completed BCA.
According to Hyderabad city police commissioner C V Anand, Osman moved to Tolichowki in July 2024 after completing his BCA course. Unable to maintain his lifestyle, he allegedly entered the drug trade, sourcing narcotics from Nigerian, Tanzanian, Sudanese, Palestinian nationals, and local suppliers.
Modus operandi: sophisticated drug operation exposed
The accused employed a sophisticated “dead drop” method for drug distribution. “Mohammed AbdulRhman Osman procured the drug from Bangalore and supplied it in Hyderabad to needy consumers by the way of dead drop – sharing the drug dropped photo and location to consumers and receiving payments through a mule bank account via G Pay & Phone Pay,” said Anand in a press briefing.

DCP YVS Sudheendra supervised the operation, which was carried out by HNEW Inspectors K. Srinivas and G.S. Daniel, their staff, and Humayun Nagar Police. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985 at Humayun Nagar police station.
