HMWSSB MD directs extended hours to clear tanker delivery backlog in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director Ashok Reddy held a Zoom meeting with General Managers (GMs) to address the backlog in tanker bookings and deliveries. Ashok Reddy instructed officials to extend working hours over the next two days to clear the pending tankers for Hyderabad residents.
During the meeting, Ashok Reddy explained that the tanker delivery backlog was due to the combination of consecutive holidays, including Ugadi and Ramadan, which led to several tanker drivers taking leave.
Although the number of bookings did not significantly increase during this period, the absence of drivers resulted in delays at key filling stations, including Shaikpet, Shapur Nagar, Budwel, Asif Nagar, NTR Nagar, Bhavani Nagar, Chilkalguda, Moula Ali, Gajularamaram, Erragadda, Gachibowli-2, Vengal Rao Nagar, Ellareddiguda, and Venkata Giri. More than 100 tankers were pending for delivery across these stations.
To address the issue, Ashok Reddy directed officials to implement two working shifts to expedite deliveries, with daytime deliveries prioritized for residential areas and nighttime deliveries scheduled for commercial sectors.
Executive Director Mayank Mittal suggested the team analyze tanker booking data, such as peak booking times and locations, to streamline operations and reduce the backlog. He also recommended adding additional filling points at necessary stations and requested proposals for this expansion. The HMWSSB is taking steps to ensure timely water delivery to meet the needs of both residential and commercial customers.
